Scale indicators must meet at least the following requirements. Return to Top

Serial output - capability of transmitting data out a serial port.

Continuous send - serial data is constantly transmitted by the scale.

Minimum of two readings per second - at least two full packets of data out it's serial port every second. This is sometimes refered to as Sample Rate or Refresh Rate.

Connections DB25 to DB25 Return to Top

Connections should be made as follows:

  DB25 Male 
  DB25 Female
DB-25 DTE to

 TXD 2-

 RXD 3-

 GND 7-

DB-25 DTE

-3 RXD

-2 TXD

-7 GND



Connections DB25 to DB9 Return to Top

Connections should be made as follows:

  DB25 Male

 

  DB9 Male
DB-25 DTE to

TXD 2-

RXD 3-

GND 7-

DB-9 DCE

-2 RXD

-3 TXD

-5 GND

 

Some indicators have to be hard wired. This means that the wires must be connected inside the indicator either by screw terminal or solder. In this case, the following applies:


Hardwire Connections DB25 to scale should be made as follows: Return to Top

DB-25 DTE to Scale

TXD 2--RXD

RXD 3--TXD

GND 7--GND


Hardwire Connections DB9 to scale should be made as follows: Return to Top

DB-9 DCE to Scale

TXD 3--RXD

RXD 2--TXD

GND 5--GND
